After I lower my boat lift, it pops up as I remove the boat. What is wrong?

Your lift is most likely air-locking due to a “stern-up” condition. Contact your nearest HydroHoist dealer for assistance.

Can my boat lift sit on the ground with the boat on it?

In most cases, if the lift has to sit on the ground because of lack of water, your boat will be fine for the short term. If the bottom is extremely unlevel or rocky you should remove the boat before this condition occurs.

Do I need to unplug my control box when the lift is not being used?

While it is not necessary to do so, unplugging your lift when not being used for extended periods of time, could prevent a “lightening-strike” power surge that could damage the control box GFCI or Control Board.

Do the control box valves need to be closed when the lift is down?

Yes, this will keep water from backing up into the manifold and eliminate water from getting to the motor or spilling onto the dock. To close your valves on manual controls turn the valve handle to the dry dock position. On push-button controls, press stop.

Do you have a retrofit kit to make my control a remote?

No; however, we can recommend after-market remote control manufacturers. Please contact HydroHoist Customer Service.

Do you have to use a shallow water boat lift only in shallow water?

Shallow water boat lifts can be used in both shallow and normal fluctuating water depths. Some boats with tall wake/surf towers in marinas need the low-profile tank design to allow their boats to be hoisted without hitting the roof of the dock or marina.

Does HydroHoist rent boat lifts?

No, however some of our Dealers offer financing options (please contact your dealer for more information). Some Marinas have leasing opportunities as well.

How can I tell what replacement motor I need?

Please contact your HydroHoist Dealer or HydroHoist Customer Service.

How can I tell what tank band I need on any lift?

The standard tank bands for the older style lifts with fiberglass tanks were either 24″, 30″ or 32″ in diameter. You should be able to measure your tank diameter and confirm what size tank bands you need. If you have a side-tie/B-Model Lift, we advise sending photos to HydroHoist Customer Service to determine your needs. Most tank bands can be purchased on TotalMarina.com!

How do I register my new HydroHoist boat lift purchase?

Select the “Resources” tab on this site and then click on “Product Registration.” Lifts purchased through Dealers are typically registered by your dealer. Please verify with your HydroHoist Dealer this has been completed upon installation.

How do I remove the cockpit bolsters?

Cockpit bolsters are held in position by clips fastened to the boat. The bolsters feature mounting brackets on the back that allow them to hang on the clips. In addition, the bottom edges of the bolsters are secured to the boat with screws. Remove the screws by inserting a screwdriver into holes along the bottom edge of the bolster. You may have to lie down on the deck to locate the screw access holes. After removing the screws, work the bolsters up and off of the mounting brackets.

How do you dock a Personal Watercraft (PWC)?

When you are driving your PWC onto the HydroPort Series models (Epic, Extreme, & Pro), approach the port slowly, at idle speed. When the nose of the PWC contacts the port, accelerate slightly, just enough to power the PWC onto the port. PWC idle speeds vary. Damage may occur to your PWC or HydroPort Series model if you hit or slam into the platform. Watch this video tutorial to learn more.

How is a Pontoon/Tritoon boat lift different from a V-Hull boat lift?

HydroHoist has pontoon/tritoon kits to make the lift customized for your pontoon/tritoon boat. More hull pads are added to the lift to support the pontoons.

How much air pressure is in the boat lift tanks when the lift is fully raised?

1-3 psi is in each tank when full of air.

How much does a boat lift cost?

Many factors go into determining the size capacity of your lift including weight, boat length/width, docking application, and body of water. HydroHoist boat lifts are customized for your boat and docking application so costs will vary.
